Overwhelmed with elation, a Michigan man’s spur-of-the-moment decision to buy lottery tickets turned into a $5.46 million windfall, prompting him to literally run down the street in celebration.
The 43-year-old, who chose to remain anonymous, purchased his winning Lotto 47 ticket at a Speedway in Kalamazoo. He told lottery officials that he occasionally plays and felt compelled to buy a few tickets recently. Interestingly, he had a strong premonition, declaring to his family, “That money is going to be mine!” when the jackpot exceeded $5 million. His numbers, 13-25-30-35-38-46, matched the April 23 drawing.
The Van Buren County resident described the moment of realization as “so surreal,” recounting how he checked his ticket repeatedly before his excitement led him on an impromptu neighborhood sprint. He opted for annual payments of approximately $182,000 over 30 years, and intends to use the prize to benefit his wife and children. The Speedway that sold the lucky ticket will also receive a $5,000 bonus.
